Along the way
Frieren’s star map in GoSekai: studied words in blue, remembered ones in gold, bright in the middle and fading to faint stars at the edge

Your words, as a night sky

Every word of a show is a star. The ones you study light up, and turn gold once you remember them. The words you’ll hear most sit near the middle, so your sky lights up from the inside out.

  • Hear every word

Each word and phrase has its own audio in a natural Japanese voice. Slow it down whenever you need to.

  • Phrases, not just words

Set phrases like 正面から (head-on) get cards of their own, so you learn them the way they’re said.

  • Watch it get easier

Your journey shows how many new words each episode brings. The further you go, the fewer there are.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Do I need to know any Japanese?

No. GoSekai starts from zero, and you can mark words you already know so it skips them.

What does GoSekai mean?

語 (go) means language and 世界 (sekai) means world, so: a world of words. It’s also a nod to isekai.

Does GoSekai have the episodes?

No. GoSekai teaches the words, and you watch on the service you already use.

Is it free?

Yes, to start. Your free account opens every word of episode 1 of two shows you pick. When a friend you invite joins, you each get another free episode. Premium opens every episode of every show.

How long does it take?

A few minutes a day. Your first episode takes the longest, often a few hundred words, so a month or two at 5 to 10 new words a day. Each episode after that brings fewer new words, and they carry over to your next show.

Which phones will it run on?

Android first, iPhone after. Pick yours when you join the waitlist, and we’ll write when it’s ready for you.
